The Oculus Rift is the latest in gaming technology. It is a virtual reality headset, designed to bring what we used to see in futuristic movies and games to real life.  The headset does make you look a bit funny while wearing it but it has an incredibly wide view, high resolution display. It is designed to proved an incredibly immersive gaming experience that allows you to not only play the game, but be the game.

The company that designed the Oculus Rift set out to provide both the technical features required for such a piece of equipment without the massive price range. It is designed to be as immersing as possible and provide a high level of involvement and enjoyment to the user.

By the looks of it, this product may actually be the push Virtual Reality gaming needs. It is described as a game changer, literally. With where gaming is at currently, we tend to unconsciously spend the majority of our gaming time ignoring everything around us and just focussing on the screen. The Rift means you can’t stop thinking about the game. You are the game. The technology in this piece of gaming equipment is incredible. It’s the little things that are noticeable, like turning 180 degrees, and having the goggles follow your movements, smoothly and without any glitches. Looking up and seeing what is above you in the game, not your lounge ceiling. There is no end to your viewpoint, any which way you look you see part of the game. One part of you is completely relaxed because you can only focus on the game, and the other part is amazed and intrigued.

When the Rift is finally released it will change the way we game, even those of us that don’t usually game will want to get a piece of this.
