The Coin - All of your cards in one

I don’t know about you but I know how much I hate having to carry stuff around. You’d think being a male with just a wallet to carry around wouldn’t be all that bad, but as most of you know there is ALWAYS a never ending pile of cards you for some reason or other just need to have sitting in there. Not to mention the pile of coins you just got given as change for the crisp, lightweight note you just used.  This along with your keys, your phone and whatever else you might need tends to annoy me (I know, I know; first world problems).

Thankfully there is almost always someone there, one step ahead of me, inventing solutions to my first world problems. The latest gadget I want added to my Christmas list? The Coin.

The Coin is a device in the shape of a single card that you can store all of your current cards in electronically. It works through using the included card swipe dongle, which you swipe your card through. The dongle works through either your iOS device or Android Smartphone. After swiping you take a picture of your card for memory, which then sends the data to the Coin, where it is protected by 128-bit encryption.

Obviously there’s a dedicated app for the Coin, which can store up to eight cards at once and lets you add, delete or update cards and their information.

The Coin itself consists of one button and a small LCD display. When you’re about to purchase something simply push the button until the correct card is displayed on the LCD, swipe the card and you’re done! The phone or tablet you’ve used to set up the Coin doesn’t even have to be near you, but for security if you are carrying your phone and the Coin with you and you forget your Coin your phone will alarm letting you know you’ve left it behind. Genius. On top of that the replaceable battery included with the Coin should last you two years of normal usage, and the Coin itself is Shock and water resistant and won’t be affected or demagnetized in the presence of other magnetic objects.

Check out the video below

The coin isn’t for sale yet, but apparently will be retailing for about $100USD, would you buy one? I know I’d love one, but is it worth the $100?
